💬"What does being part of the NZ Construction Alliance Ltd (NZCA) mean to you?"

Recently, Lawrence (Lawrie) Baker, National Accounts & Operations Director, took the opportunity to sit down with NZ Construction Alliance Ltd (NZCA) Director Grant Gunn and ask the question...
"What does being part of the NZ Construction Alliance mean to you?"

This is what Grant shared ….
For me, being part of the NZCA is much more than shared projects and possible financial gains. It’s about collective ambition. Maycroft joined NZCA because we saw the potential to grow our capability, access opportunities at a national level, and align with like-minded regional leaders who are building great businesses and better outcomes for their communities. Previously, we had been quite isolated in that sense.

What sets NZCA apart is that it’s not just a network, it really is an alliance. We’re all strong, independently successful regional firms, but together we bring scale, resilience, and insight that no single company could match on its own. That makes NZCA a lower-risk, high-trust partner for national customers and a unique platform for collaboration in a sector not well known for it.

Personally, I’ve found immense value in the relationships with other directors and shareholders. We share ideas, learn from each other’s experiences, and challenge ourselves to raise the bar, whether that’s in construction, health and safety, sustainability, marketing, or system efficiency. The trust that’s grown between us means we show up for each other and for the Alliance.

There’s sometimes a misconception that NZCA is just a group of companies loosely connected. In reality, we’re a strategically aligned collective that’s building the kind of capability, culture, and confidence the industry needs more of.

Grant also then went on to say …

“As a founding NZCA partner, we saw a huge opportunity in shaking up the industry with an innovative and collaborative model. One made up of strong, independently successful regional firms that bring scale, resilience and local insight that no single company could match.

Having values-aligned partners is fundamental to the success of the Alliance. Our group is prepared to lean in, to learn, and challenge and support each other in raising the bar, whether in construction experience, health and safety, sustainability, marketing or system efficiency.

Because we’re shareholders as well as partners, there’s long-term commitment and real accountability built into the way we work together.

I believe we’ve built a compelling alternative for customers. A national delivery model founded on years of experience and a commitment to doing things better together.”
