Fosters is honoured to be the lead contractor on a significant community project - the Open Country Stadium in Matamata - and excited to get started in the next few months…

A special karakia and groundbreaking ceremony was held by local mana whenua late last year (pictured below, which marked the start of the civil works. The larger group photo profiles those who have helped secure funding for this project over the last decade, including local Government, Sport Waikato, Ministry of Education and the wider community.

We look forward to managing the design-build contract for this new stadium, including 2 x basketball courts, 2 x netballs courts and multiple volleyball, badminton, and futsal courts. Attached to this will be changing facilities, plus a community zone that includes ablutions and a multi-purpose room with a kitchen.

The stadium project aims to address several local challenges, including low indoor sports participation and an aging population, while also serving as a hub for school and community activities.
By bringing more recreational opportunities to Matamata, the hope is that the stadium will improve people's quality of life and attract new residents to the area.
