The Housing Upgrade Project (HUP) is a 20-year, $400m program to improve the social housing stock in Wellington. A partnership between Wellington City Council and the Crown, the program has included various large-scale projects. Maycroft Construction is proud to have been involved with several of these, including the $10.3m Hanson Court Upgrade and the $1.6m Regent Park Flats Enabling Project.

Maycroft Construction was awarded the initial contract for both the Marshall Court Enabling Project followed by the separate $5.8m Marshall Court Flats Redevelopment.

The Marshall Court Enabling Project involved:

  • the demolition of the existing four-storey, 46 unit apartment complex;

  • removal of redundant services;

  • and preparation of the site for the new development.

As the main contractor on the new Marshall Court Redevelopment, we constructed a four-storey building with two wings, 27 one-bedroom apartments and a communal space. In addition to the new building, the works included installation of underground utilities, mains water reticulation, car parks, boundary fencing, and hard and soft landscaping.

The Marshall Court Redevelopment will enhance the lives of those who reside there. Furthermore, the modern architecture and landscape design adds to the vibrancy of the busy Miramar town centre.

The development was recognised at the 2015 Wellington Architecture Awards in the Housing-Multi Unit Category, and the 2016 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards.
